Women's Soccer loses nonconference battle with UW-River Falls

ST. PAUL -- Northwestern's three-game winning streak came to a halt on Wednesday as the University of Wisconsin-River Falls handed the Eagles a 2-0 loss at Reynolds Field. The Falcons boasted a 14-4 advantage in shots while maintaining possession of the ball a majority of the time throughout the game.

Janae Baron scored her eighth goal of the year and River Falls' first of the game at 28:26. Carlin Bunting added an insurance goal for the Falcons ten minutes later, and the rest was history as the visitors left St. Paul with a shutout victory.

Susan Scheil (Andover, Minn./Meadow Creek) had Northwestern's only shot on goal in the game. Rhonda Morgan (Andover, Minn./Meadow Creek) (Andover, Minn./Meadow Creek) tallied nine saves while giving up the Falcons' two goals.

Northwestern, who falls to 5-5-2 overall (5-1-2 UMAC) in 2009, will resume its conference schedule on Friday, Oct. 16, when the Eagles travel to Ashland, Wis. to play Northland College in a 1 p.m. affair. On Saturday, Oct. 17, Northwestern will then travel to Duluth, Minn. to face the College of St. Scholastica. That game is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
