ST. PAUL (Sep. 3, 2008) – The Northwestern College women's soccer team held their ground against NCAA Div. II Concordia University-St. Paul for 57 minutes on Wednesday before the Golden Bears swiped at the Eagles with a 2-0 win.
Concordia's Emily Weimelt scored on a two-assist play at the 57:24 mark before Savannah Nolen put back a rebounded shot in the 78th minute.
Concordia held the upper hand throughout most of the game, out-shooting Northwestern 33-8. Eagles goalkeeper
Rhonda Morgan (Andover, Minn./Meadow Creek) (Andover, Minn./Meadow Creek) made 10 saves on her second career day of active game duty.
Sophomore
Kyrie Jorgenson (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah) (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah) tallied three shots on goal for Northwestern, but Concordia's Keyton Wheelock tallied five saves for the shutout.
Northwestern (0-2) will take a rather lengthy breather before resuming play on Sept. 19, when they open their Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) schedule at the College of St. Scholastica. That game is set to begin at 4 p.m.
