Women's Soccer loses UMAC opener to St. Scholastica

DULUTH, Minn. (Sep. 19, 2008) – The Northwestern College women's soccer team played their first game in over two weeks on Friday, losing to the College of St. Scholastica in the Eagles' Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) opener.

St. Scholastica scored four straight goals, three of which came in the first half, before Northwestern got on the board.  Kyrie Jorgenson (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah) (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah) scored the Eagles' first goal of the season in the game's 68th minute to break the Saints' shutout.  Jorgenson's goal came courtesy of a Nikki Seviola (Circle Pines, MN/Centennial High School) (Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial) cross.

St. Scholastica (6-2, 2-0 UMAC) held a healthy 14-3 advantage in shots.  Jorgenson had all three shots for Northwestern.

Rhonda Morgan (Andover, Minn./Meadow Creek) (Andover, Minn./Meadow Creek) recorded three saves in the loss.

Northwestern (0-3, 0-1 UMAC) will seek their first win on Saturday, when they follow Lake Superior to Ashland, Wis. to face Northland College.  That game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
