(Oct. 25, 2008) -- Northwestern College earned itself home field advantage for the first round of the UMAC postseason tournament, as the Eagles defeated Bethany Lutheran College 1-0 on Saturday. Kyrie Jorgenson (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah)'s goal within the game's first ten minutes was the difference-maker, as the sophomore was the only player to score.
Jorgenson's goal was her 11th of the season, giving her 27 points in 2008. Saturday's goal was unassisted.
Northwestern held a strong 23-9 advantage in shots, getting 14 shots off in the first half alone.
Rhonda Morgan (Andover, Minn./Meadow Creek) (Andover, Minn./Meadow Creek) had three saves to record her eighth shutout this year.
The win was Northwestern's second in a row after a 2-1 win over Martin Luther on Friday. The Eagles, now 11-7 overall and 10-2 in UMCA play, will practice this week before playing back-to-back games against Crown College on Friday and Saturday. Friday's game at Reynolds Field will begin at 1 p.m., while Saturday's bout in St. Bonifacius, Minn. is scheduled to start at 12 p.m.
