Eagles to host NCCAA Victory Bowl on Friday at Metrodome

MINNEAPOLIS (Nov. 16, 2008) – The H.H.H. Metrodome will play host to the 12th annual National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Victory Bowl, which will feature Malone University (Canton, Ohio) and Northwestern College (St. Paul, Minn.) on Friday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. CST.

The two teams, who have never met in the two schools' histories, have played in seven of the 11 Victory Bowls to date.  Northwestern, which will serve as the home team, has participated in four Victory Bowls, while Malone will be playing in the season finale for its third consecutive year.  Each team has claimed one Victory Bowl title.

Both Malone (6-3) and Northwestern (8-2) were discussed as potential playoff teams in their respective primary affiliations before being selected to play in the Victory Bowl.  Northwestern, who is coming off a 41-0 loss to the University of St. Thomas, was ranked as high as No. 7 in the NCAA Div. III west region and received votes in the AFCA Coaches' Poll.  Malone was ranked as high as 10th in the NAIA National Poll this year.  The Pioneers fell to Ohio Dominican last week 34-24.

Before stepping on the Metrodome's field, both teams will come together for a Friday morning brunch, followed by an outreach project in the early afternoon.

Fans can stay informed about the Victory Bowl and the activities that surround it on Northwestern's web site, which also includes information about hotels and restaurants in the area.  Live video and live game statistics will be offered on game day.
