Women's Cross Country Competes Well at River Falls Invite

RIVER FALLS, WIS. – The University of Northwestern women's cross country team competed well at in the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Invitational Friday, as the Eagles finished in sixth place overall.

Getting off to a fast start, Sophomore Jane Hulterstrum (Litchfield, Minn./Litchfield) led the Eagles with a 25:46 finish, while Sophomore Susan Porter (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids) had a strong finish as she crossed the line in 27:10.

Proving to be a solid contender in her first-ever 6k race, Freshman Juliette Martin (Chisago City, Minn./Homeschool) ran a respectable time of 28:14 with Sophomore Mckenzie Olson (Monticello/Monticello) (28:27) and Freshman Annika Horning (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) (31:30) clocking in right behind.

Cruising through the course, Sophomore Sophia Swanson (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater) ended the race with a new personal-best of 32:31, while Freshman Hannah Bergh rounded out the evening with a 32:59 time, respectively. 

River Falls took home the team title, finishing with 34 points. 

UNW will head to Northfield next Saturday to compete in the St. Olaf Invitational. For more information on the women's program, fans should visit www.unweagles.com.
