ST. PAUL, MINN. - Closing out a strong opening week of competition, the University of Northwestern had three athletes earn Upper Midwest Athletic Conference [UMAC] weekly honors Monday afternoon. UNW's
Lindsey Peterson (Sheffield, Iowa/West Fork) was awarded the offensive player of the week for volleyball, while teammates
Samantha Dewey (Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors) and
Emily Goeppinger (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) garnered the offensive and defensive honors for women's soccer.

Reining AVCA DIII Player of the Year Lindsay Peterson picked up right where she left off, as the outside hitter helped the fourth-ranked Eagles to a 4-0 start. The senior standout recorded 70 kills in 13 sets [5.83 kills/set], hitting an impressive .366. Peterson smashed 24 kills against UW-Stevens Point, tallied 22 kills against Buena Vista, and totaled five aces.
Samantha Dewey (Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors) and
Emily Goeppinger (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) rounded out the accolades on the afternoon for the Eagles. Dewey was recognized for her solid efforts on the defensive end, as the junior goalkeeper caught four saves in the teams opening contest against Carthage College Friday evening, while Goeppinger netted a lone goal in the 6-1 loss to CC.
