Karen Moe (Fargo, N.D./Fargo South ) and
Matt Swigart highlighted the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) women's tennis postseason awards release Tuesday, as Moe was named Player of the Year and Swigart Coach of the Year. Also named First Team All-UMAC were
Nikki Edin (Staples, Minn./Staples-Motley),
Emily Knight (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge),
Brooke Lapinski (Chanhassen, Minn./Chanhassen) and
Rachel Lukkarila (Becker, Minn./Homeschool). Northwestern also took home the team sportsmanship award and Lapinski was tagged with the individual honor.

Karen Moe (Fargo, N.D./Fargo South ) will graduate this weekend as one of the most decorated players in the history of Northwestern athletics. The senior and Fargo native is the winningest player in program history and is currently 29-0 this spring on the courts at No. 1 singles. In doubles play she has posted a 25-5 (7-0 UMAC) mark at No. 1 doubles. This is the second UMAC Player of the Year award for the six-time UMAC Player of the Week.
Swigart guided the Eagles to the most wins in program history and the program's second-straight NCAA Tournament appearance. UNW boasts a 24-6 overall mark after finishing conference play 9-1. This is the second honor for Swigart.
Nikki Edin (Staples, Minn./Staples-Motley) had a strong sophomore campaign, compiling an impressive 24-6 mark at No. 3, 4 and 5 singles. She has posted a 9-1 record in her last 10 matches. In doubles, play she has teamed up with her partner to put together a 25-5 record.
Emily Knight (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge) continued on her success from a season ago, as the sophomore finished UMAC play with a 5-2 record. In doubles action, she was also 5-2, while posting a 21-9 overall record with her partner.
Brooke Lapinski (Chanhassen, Minn./Chanhassen) stepped in at No. 2 doubles and performed very well, finishing with a 20-10 mark. She put together a 6-1 record in league action in singles and then finished 26-4 in doubles play.
Freshman
Rachel Lukkarila (Becker, Minn./Homeschool) had a strong rookie showing, finishing her season an impressive 26-4 at No. 4, 5 and 6 singles, including a 6-1 mark in UMAC games. She also tallied a 25-5 (6-1) record in doubles action.
