The Sheffield, Iowa, native is now one of 11 finalists for the award, which recognizes the top Division III student-athlete in the country. Shall she be chosen as the Division III honoree, Peterson would head to Los Angeles June 26 to receive her award via a live telecast.

"This is amazing and I am honored to be a nominee," stated Peterson. "I can't even tell you how much this means. I really can't take any credit for this though, as I wouldn't be in this position without my teammates and coaches. They've pushed me to not only be the best volleyball player I can be, but also the best person I can be. I really owe them so much and couldn't have accomplished anything without their constant love, encouragement, and support. It's always a team effort and I'm so thankful for the team I get to play with."

"It's an incredible honor for Lindsey to be named a finalist for the Honda Athlete of the Year Award," said head coach Beth Wilmeth. "She's been a standout player for our program over the past several years, but it's the person and leader that she's becoming that is really special to witness."
