ST. PAUL — On Thursday, the Northwestern men's track and field squad headed down Snelling Avenue to Macalester University for the Bolstorff Men's Twilight. The Eagles came away with some great finishes against tough out-of-conference competitors. Northwestern's team rankings on the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) outdoor performance list have soared as an outcome of the meet.
Results Kyle Anenson (Chanhassen, Minn./Chanhassen) came away from the 400 meter dash in 13th place out of 44 competitors in 51.97 seconds. The outing brought Anenson up to the No. 6 ranking on the UMAC outdoor performance list for the 400 meter dash. Anenson also anchored the fourth-place 4 x 400 meter relay team that consisted of Anenson's teammates
LeRoy Malone (Stewartville, Minn./Stewartville),
Wil Maki (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing), and
Spencer Steel (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Homeschool) (3:30.31), which resulted in the team's achievement of first overall rank on the UMAC performance list. Maki continues to make strides on his 800 meter run time, finishing eighth overall on Thursday out of 56 runners with a time of 1:57.01, a mere two seconds away from the UNW program record. Maki, a freshman, is currently ranked first overall on the UMAC list for the event.
Baruch Fischer (Silver Bay, Minn./William M Kelly HS) and
Ayeir Karnwie-Tuah (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View) threw for 19th and 20th places out of 37 throwers in the shot put, achieving distances of 12.11 and 12.10 meters, respectively. Fischer and Karnwie-Tuah hold the no. 5 and no. 6 spots on the UMAC shot put list.
