MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Northwestern men's track and field team tied for fourth place at Saturday's Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Championship at Big Cat Stadium. The Eagles returned home with several top three finishes.

Baruch Fischer (Silver Bay, Minn./William Kelly), whose hurl of 13.6 meters in the shot put event was good for second place. Ayeir Karnwie-Tuah also gave a strong showing in the shot put as his throw of 12.31 meters was fourth best on the day.
In the running events,
Connor Wohlenhaus (Des Moines, Iowa/Des Moines Christian) and
Carl Christenson (Prior Lake, Minn./Homeschool) took home a pair of fourth place finishes. Wohlenhaus's 16.72-second sprint came in the 110 meter hurdles while Christenson took a much longer distance, finishing the 3000 meter steeplechase in 10:43.03. Freshman
Kyle Anenson (Chanhassen, Minn./Chanhassen) was busy on the track on Saturday as he claimed third place in the 400 meter hurdles (57.82 seconds) before teaming with
Casey McDermott (Horicon, Wis./Mayville),
Caleb Couwenhoven (Ham Lake/Fridley) and
Isaac Siekawitch (Sartell, Minn./Sartell) in the 4x100 meter relay. Their 45.73 second finish was good for third place, the same place that Northwestern's 4x400 meter relay team claimed.
Couwenhoven was seventh in the 100 meter dash at 11.75 seconds, while Siekawitch took seventh in the 200 meter distance with a time of 23.57 seconds. Siekawitch was one of six Northwestern men to run in the 200 meter race.
Deandre' Floyd's 53.72-second time in the 400 meter open was seventh-best, two spots ahead of teammate
Cody Carlson (Dallas Center, Iowa/Des Moines Christian), who finished in 57.71 seconds.
Chris Schulenberg (Eden Prairie, Minn./StillwaterArea) and
Nick Krinkie (St. Paul, Minn./Webster (Wis.)) went 9-10 in the 1,500 meter distance. Schulenberg's time of 4:41.79 was one of two personal bests for the freshman, while Krinkie crossed the finish line in 4:43.22.
Kevin Rotich (Brooklyn Center, Minn./Park Center) also ran the 1,500 for the Eagles.
The College of St. Scholastica won the UMAC Championship with 231 points, eight points better than second place University of Minnesota Morris' 223. Bethany Lutheran College took 56 points, while Martin Luther was the other team to tie for fourth place at 51 points.
Northwestern returns to the track next Friday, May 9 at the Eagle Open hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. That meet is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
